Purpose of the Intro Call
The goal of the free intro call is as follows:
- For the guardian and mentee, the goals are to:
- Get to know you as a mentor before committing to a program
- Learn how you can support their athlete
- Understand what Athlete to Athlete is and how our mentorship program works
- Decide if they want to continue working with you
- For you, the goal is to:
- Get to know the mentee and their guardian
- Learn why they’re interested in mentorship and what they’re hoping to gain
- Help them feel excited and comfortable about the idea of working with you by:
- Expressing that you’d love to keep working with them
- Sharing how you can support them moving forward

Intro Call Expectations
By taking an intro call, you acknowledge that the youth athlete may choose to purchase a mentorship program with you.
Before the Call
You will receive a text with the Google Meet link 15 minutes before the scheduled call. You’ll be leading the intro call, so be sure to:
- Be on time
- Be prepared
- Present yourself professionally
You are expected to take the meeting from a laptop for stability and ease of use. Only use a mobile device if absolutely necessary and no other option is available.
Suggested Call Structure
The intro call should last 15 minutes. While the structure below is a guideline, feel free to let the conversation flow naturally.
1. Introduction (2–3 minutes)
- Confirm the mentee and parent’s camera and microphone are on
- Begin with a warm welcome, a simple icebreaker, and genuine enthusiasm about meeting them
